Chili Mango Margarita

Mango and chili are like Yin and Yang! They complement each other so well. The sweetness of the mango gets livelier with the intensity of the chili and salt in this drink. This fruity fiery drink is extremely flavorful. It is so smooth you can easily guzzle up a few glasses and before you know it, you will be tanked and dancing on the table. However, if you like to skip the alcohol, feel free to do so and use orange juice in the same quantities as the alcohol omitted.

When serving for a party I blend all the ingredients in my blender minus the alcohol and pour it in a pitcher and keep it cool. I also like to keep the glasses rimmed beforehand so I am spending less time in the kitchen when my guests arrive. That way if I have someone who is not drinking alcohol, I pour some orange juice and this mango concoction in their glass. You can use you’re a cocktail measure to add the spirits. But if you know that every guest at your party drinks liquor the recipe below is spot on and you can simply bring it together in your blender.

You can use fresh or frozen Mangoes in this recipe and puree it to make fresh juice and use as much sugar as you like to sweeten it to your taste. You might also need to use some ice or cold water to make it thinner. I use canned Mango Pulp from the Indian grocery store as the variety of mangoes used for that pulp is very vibrant and the sweetness is to my liking. For the spice I use Thai chili as I like my drink to have a kick, but feel free to use Jalapenos or other chili of your choice. I did deseed half of one chili to reduce the heat and that is tip you can keep in mind too! Keep the seeds for more heat and remove them to cut it down.

The citrus salty rim is the highlight of a Margarita for me. And the addition of chili powder is life changing in this drink. It also looks extremely attractive. I have no shame in saying I am one of those who rotates the glass to sip all the way around to eventually get all the citrusy chili salt. I also used fresh mint to garnish but that is optional. Serve on ice or use a piece of frozen mango instead.
